Early in 1929, a customer strolled into this store to purchase a fine, hand-rolled, premium cigar. That individiual began a tradition that lasted more than 75 years and established an icon at the main intersection in the Town of Rhinebeck.

To the disappointment of many, United Smoke Shop closed late in 2004. In October 2005 this historic smoke shop was reopened as Rhinebeck Smoke Shoppe, with the original charm, character and grace lovingly restored. It's a concept that appeals to us and we believe will appeal to those who have cherished and nutured this establishment through the decades, as well as newcomers who simply value the expertise and quality that only comes with this sort of tradition and experience. Careful efforts have been made to preserve and enhance the ambiance of this Rhinebeck treasure so the novelty of the tobacco store heritage can be enjoyed for years to come.
